UCL (University College London) Select NJW to Provide EMR Return for 2017/18

UCL is London’s leading multidisciplinary university, with more than 11,000 staff and 38,000 students from 150 different countries. Founded in 1826 in the heart of London, UCL was the first university in England to welcome students of any religion and the first to welcome women on equal terms with men.

Estates Management Record (EMR) Return – the EMR is a set of 400 plus items or data fields relating to the management of Higher Education Institution (HEI) collected by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and is available to all HEIs for benchmarking purposes via the HEIDI database. 150 of the EMR items or data fields are mandatory and the rest are voluntary but an organisation as prestigious as UCL should be complicit in its attention to detail.

UCL have circa 250 buildings with an estimated area of 600,000 sq/m. The NJW Professional Services team will systematically interview UCL stakeholders, visit sites and digitally record the Building space utilisation statistics for the EMR Return.

The audit also involves asset data extraction from existing UCL legacy databases including CAD/CAFM.

The total audit will take up to 5 months to complete and NJW will experiment with the most efficient digital data collection tools and optimum analytics to make the entire process efficient and recyclable for future audits.
