NJW to take to the streets of Reading

Sunday morning saw mainly favourable, although blustery conditions for Team NJW to take to the streets of Reading for the Hilton Corporate Challenge.

First to line up at 8:30 were Rosanna and Beth in the Green Park Challenge, competing admirably despite having little previous running experience.

Then at 10:15, Nigel, Flancy, James and I got under starters orders for the Reading Half Marathon.  Although it was slightly off-putting being herded into the red zone to start (alongside runners expecting to finish in 1hr 30m – 1hr 40m!), the team made excellent progress across the 13.1 miles, all finishing in the MadStad within 2 hours and 45 minutes.

As ever, the crowd support and musical entertainment lining the route was outstanding and although most of us are suffering to some degree today, I hope the team take away some good memories of the day and maybe even get the urge to do it all again sometime.

As you know, we’ve been raising money for Cancer Research UK

Our total, including proceeds from this past Friday stands at £798.16, so huge thanks to everyone that has sponsored, baked, eaten and bought over the past weeks.
